Taking the next step can be difficult. We tend to get into a rut so easily, and we miss the opportunity. Taking The Next Step is a weekly reminder to take action. Be deliberate about your manhood, and you relationships with your wife and kids. What do you need to do to become more of the man, the husband, the father that you were created to be?

Here is this week’s edition of Take The Next Step!

Take The Next Step!

I had a dad fail this week. Our refrigerator is going out, and until we can find a replacement, we are using ice to keep the temp down. Because of this, we need to keep the door closed as much as possible. This morning, my youngest son, who is four, was standing there, with the fridge door open, considering whether or not he wanted an apple.

I don’t think I was too harsh, but I told him to close the door before all the cold escaped. He took that way harder than I intended and he began sobbing. The chest heaving, body shaking kind of sobbing.

All I could do was hold him in my arms and let him cry, telling him I wasn’t mad, and that I was sorry.

It made me think. Rather than telling the kids what they should be doing, maybe I need to try telling them the good things that they are doing. I need to let them know just how great they are. They need to hear it. And I bet your kids do too.

So let’s tell our kids today how great we think they are!
